Auto insurance, which is also known as car insurance, vehicle insurance or motor insurance is generally purchased for trucks, cars or other vehicles. This insurance is used to protect against the loses which incur because of any sort of accidents or against liabilities which incur in an accident
Following are a few steps for one to follow while filing an auto insurance claim
1) Call the emergency if any medical attention is required, but only if it is important. In either case, it is important to contact the police. To file a report its important for the police to be there
2) It is important to exchange any details such as license plate numbers, addresses or contact numbers with the other party. Make sure to get the details from them too.
3) Look for witnesses who will be able to tell what they say. But if witness is not available then the police report is good enough too
4) It is necessary for an individual to call up his or her insurance company; it is all the more helpful if it is done from the scene.
5) Assuming you are at no fault, you should advice the other person’s insurance company that you are filing a claim using your carrier and will seek for reimbursement of the costs
6) If you get a call from the opposite party’s insurance company, you need to give your stand of the events
7) The adjuster will then come and check the damage caused and the required amount necessary to redo the damage.
8) If any dispute arises over amount not enough for replacement, you may want to ask your carrier for some sort of arbitration.
